Research Expansion Grant

Prior Deadline for REG 2021: May 1st, 2021

The Research Expansion Grant (REG) is a unique student-administered grant for 3rd or higher year engineering PhD students, with the aim of fostering innovative research in the field of photonics. Up to four (4) grants of $10,000 are available to support grad students in expanding current research into multidisciplinary collaborations, covering conference costs, and supplementing their research stipends.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a registered PhD student in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at UofT
  • Be in your 3rd or higher year of studies since first registering/transferring to the PhD program
  • Have a proposed collaboration with a non-corporate PI (signature is required on the Background Information Form) who is outside of the applicant’s own department
  • Have not previously been awarded an REG

  • Grant Proposal Document (2 pages maximum length not including references; download PDF document above for guidelines)
  • CV including list of publications
  • Transcript (ACORN printouts are accepted)
